Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CopyImageToText.com (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of CopyImageToText.com ("we," "us," or "our"). We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

CopyImageToText.com is a free online OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool that extracts text from images and PDF files using Google Cloud Vision AI. The Service accepts uploaded image files (JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, WEBP, BMP, HEIC) and PDF documents and returns the text content detected within those files.

Authenticated (signed-in) users have access to an extraction history feature, which stores their previous extraction results so they can retrieve them later. Guest users (not signed in) do not have their extracted text stored — results are returned immediately and then discarded.

The Service is currently provided free of charge. No paid subscription tiers are currently offered.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

4. Accounts

4.1 Guest Use

The core text extraction feature does not require an account. Guest users may use the Service subject to daily rate limits. Extracted text is returned to your browser and is not stored on our servers.

4.2 Registered Accounts

You may optionally create an account to access additional features, including extraction history. By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access at hello@copyimagetotext.com

Account infrastructure is provided by Supabase. Account creation and authentication are subject to Supabase's terms of service.

4.3 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting hello@copyimagetotext.com. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion.

5. Extraction History and Data Storage

5.1 Guest Users

If you use the Service without signing in, your uploaded file is processed and the extracted text is returned to your browser. We do not store your file or the extracted text on our servers. The extracted text exists in server memory only for the duration of the request and is then discarded.

5.2 Authenticated Users — Extraction History

If you are signed in, each successful extraction is saved to your personal extraction history in our database. This stored record includes:

  • The filename of the uploaded file
  • The full extracted text content
  • The page count (for PDF files)
  • The date and time of the extraction

This data is associated with your user account and is accessible to you through your history dashboard. It is not shared with other users.

5.3 Our Access to Stored Extraction Data

As the operators of this Service, we have administrative access to our database, which includes stored extraction history. We do not routinely access, read, or review users' extraction history. However, we may access individual records if required to:

  • Investigate a reported violation of these Terms
  • Respond to a valid legal request or court order
  • Diagnose a technical issue affecting your account at your request
  • Perform essential database maintenance

This is standard practice for any cloud-hosted service. If you are processing highly sensitive or confidential documents and you do not want any third party — including us — to have any possibility of access, we recommend using the Service as a guest (without signing in), so that your extracted text is never stored.

5.4 Deletion of Extraction History

You can delete individual extraction history records or your entire history at any time through your account settings. Deleted records are permanently removed from our database. You may also request bulk deletion by contacting hello@copyimagetotext.com.

6. File Uploads and Content

6.1 Your Ownership

You retain full ownership of all files you upload and all text extracted from them. We do not claim any ownership or rights over your content.

6.2 Licence to Process and Store

By uploading a file while signed in, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to transmit your file to Google Cloud Vision AI for text extraction and to store the resulting extracted text in your account history on our servers. This licence is used solely to provide the Service to you and is revocable at any time by deleting your extraction history or your account.

6.3 Prohibited Content

You agree NOT to upload files containing:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors
  • Content that is illegal under any applicable law
  • Malicious code, malware, or harmful software
  • Content used to harass, stalk, or invade the privacy of any individual
  • Content promoting violence, hate speech, or discrimination

6.4 Content Monitoring

We do not routinely monitor or read the text stored in users' extraction history. We reserve the right to act on violations of these Terms if they come to our attention, and to cooperate fully with law enforcement where required.

7. Third-Party Processing

7.1 Google Cloud Vision AI

Your uploaded files are transmitted to Google Cloud Vision API (operated by Google LLC) to perform text extraction. Google processes your files under its own terms and privacy policy. Google does not use API-submitted data to train its models. You can review Google's terms at cloud.google.com.

7.2 Hosting

The Service is hosted on Vercel. Vercel's infrastructure may retain server logs for a limited period for security and error monitoring. Vercel's privacy policy governs their data handling.

7.3 Database

User account data and extraction history are stored in Supabase. Supabase's privacy policy governs their handling of hosted data.

8. Accuracy of OCR Results

OCR results are produced by Google Cloud Vision AI and are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. Results may be imperfect on low-quality images, unusual fonts, handwriting, or complex layouts. We make no warranty as to the accuracy of extracted text. You are responsible for verifying results before relying on them.

9. No Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INACCURATE OCR RESULTS, SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, OR THE ACTIONS OF THIRD-PARTY PROVIDERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED AUD $100.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CopyImageToText.com, its operator, and its service providers from any claims, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your uploaded content, or your misuse of the Service.

12. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to files you upload and text extracted from them. The Service itself — its design, code, and infrastructure — is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. OCR results belong to you.

13. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our source code or API
  • Use automated tools to submit bulk requests without permission
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
  • Upload files containing malicious code
  • Interfere with the operation or infrastructure of the Service
  • Access or attempt to access another user's data

14. Termination

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms or at our discretion. Upon account termination, we will delete your extraction history within 30 days unless required to retain it by law.

15. Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it at any time without liability, including changes to features, usage limits, and availability.

16. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on the following providers:

  • Google Cloud Vision AI — OCR processing (cloud.google.com)
  • Vercel — Hosting and infrastructure (vercel.com)
  • Supabase — Account management and data storage (supabase.com)

We are not responsible for the availability or practices of these third parties.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Australian courts. Before initiating legal action, you agree to attempt informal resolution by contacting hello@copyimagetotext.com. Any claims must be brought within one (1) year of the date they arise.

18. DMCA and Copyright

If you believe any content on our Service infringes your copyright, contact us at hello@copyimagetotext.com with your contact details, a description of the work, its location on our Service, and a good-faith statement of your belief. We will respond to valid notices in accordance with applicable law.

19. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and remaining provisions remain in full force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CopyImageToText.com.
